Riddling Trello's Magic – Mini Munch
- I exist within a board, but have no physical form,
- With a whispered word, I change the card’s norm.
- I move it onward, assign a guiding hand, Schedule deadlines with a pre-programmed command.
What am I?
- A Butler Custom command - in Trello
Real-World Example:
- User manage a software development team and use Trello to track bug fixes.
- Having a list named "Reported Bugs" where testers log any issues they encounter.
- When a bug is verified and assigned to a developer, additional steps need to be taken to communicate and track progress.
Solution with Butler: Create a Butler command named "Assign & Notify".
- Move the card from "Reported Bugs" to "In Progress."
- Assign the card to a developer based on the bug's severity - using a label system.
- Add a comment to the card notifying the developer and include a link to the relevant code repository.
- Add a checklist for the developer with tasks like "Reproduce Bug," "Fix Implemented," and "Ready for Testing."
Smart Strategies
- This custom command automates the initial communication and task creation process, saving the tester time and ensuring all necessary information is conveyed to the developer.
- The checklist keeps the developer focused on the steps needed to fix the bug.
- The assigned developer receives a clear notification with context, reducing the need for additional back-and-forth communication.
- This scenario proves how Butler commands can improve communication and streamline workflows within a team that relies on Trello for project management.
