ACP-600 or 620 for a new user?

Deleted user April 6, 2021

Hello all,

I know this question has been asked already a few times, however with the retirement of Jira server I was wondering if it's still ACP-600 the best cert for a new user or if ACP-620 is now a better option? I am going through the "Learn Jira Basis" training but then I want to move deeper into Jira.

I've also noticed that on the ACP-620 page it was previously advised an exposure of 1 to 2 years with Jira and now it says "Six months' exposure to Jira Software Cloud is recommended before taking the training course and exam." so it seems the requirements have eased a little bit.

Could you please advise?

Thank you.

Hi @[deleted] — you are correct: we recommend 6 months of experience for ACP-620. As a Jira Project Administrator for Cloud, it takes a little less time to gain the necessary experience (as compared to a Jira Administrator). That said, the question of ACP-120 vs. ACP-620 is really a question of which environment (Cloud vs. Data Center or Server) you will be working in the most.

If you aren't currently working in either one right now, I'd suggest asking what deployment companies are using where you may want to work. Some industries may be more prone to on-premise solutions, some cloud. If it doesn't matter, I think @Deepanshu Natani is correct is his statement, "many organizations have now started moving to cloud…" so, you may feel like this is a better option for you.

Either way, we feel confident that both will set you up for success, both in serving as a Jira Project Administrator and advancing your career. I hope that helps!

Hi @[deleted] Since many organizations have now started moving to cloud, opting for ACP-620 should be better (if you have enough exposure to Jira Cloud).

However, ACP-600 still remains as relevant as it used to be. So if you would be mostly interacting with Jira DC/server then you should opt for that.
