I need examples of the types of metrics and scale that could be used to Run the slider scale to prioritize strategic goals for a leadership team. If we want to understand the trade off among a series of strategic goals that all seem to be critical.
Hello @Natalia Fernandez Cortes
In my experience, when running this meeting, the process does not include specific scales given the nature of the conversation you are usually trying to spark. It becomes a matter of having an open conversation about scenarios you can envision where two or more areas of impact or values come into conflict.
An example we recently had when kicking off a project was balancing our focus between scope and quality. We could all envision the scale for scope (MVP <-> All features) and the scale for quality (quick and dirty <-> pixel-perfect). Despite how different these are the essence of the conversation lied in the answer we gave to the question: 'If a time comes when we have to choose between cutting scope or hacking through to deliver, what would come first?'.
Repeating this process, again and again, proposing scenarios where your values come into conflict eventually gives you the scale you look for.
When attempting to prepare for this meeting with your team, what did your first draft of values/metrics look like and what was your biggest challenge gathering them?
