Monitoring tool to Status Page Integration

Question

I have currently setup email based automation from my monitoring tool to Status Page. This relies on the subject containing texts 'UP' or 'DOWN'. Are there other non-email based integration capabilities that are available? If yes, could someone point to documentation?

What are the best practices to automate StatusPage based on results from Monitoring Tools?
