getting constant password popup request (again) when trying to pull. eventual 403 error

Long Neck Games September 8, 2020

I've had this happen in the past, and remembered beating my head against the desk then as well. Went through a ton of old threads suggesting all sorts of solutions to no avail.  was originally able to just re-verify Oath in settings and that seemed to work, but now I'm just at a total loss of what to try next. Command line is now giving me a 403 too many passwords error, and I can't get that to stop no matter what I do either.

Using windows 10, Sourcetree version 3.3.6.3829, git system version 2.25.0

Repo is on bitbucket.

So far I've tried:

  • switching from embedded to system git,
  • deleting pswd file.
  • changed passwords like 3 times
  • fiddled with every stupid account log in spot possible (seriously, why does it need to be like this?)
  • Deleting account info and resetting it up with a new password or auth
  • setting up two factor auth
  • can get Oauth green check, but sourcetree doesn't seem to care about that anymore.

If I seem frustrated it's because I am, I seriously don't understand how this program will work one minute then magically forget how to do basically anything. I'm fortunate to only need to dabble in source control every so often, I have no idea how folks put up with this for a living.
