I love this software but I have an issue with the bookmark list. As a web developer I have dozens of bookmarks (GIT). When I open the bookmark list it starts scanning all the repositories and bogs down for a few minutes. I've reduced this a bit by putting them in folders, since it only appears to scan once they are in view, but its still a lot of scanning when I try to open one.
Is it possible to disable this scanning in the bookmark list?
As you've figured out on your own, SourceTree only scans the bookmarks that are in view, so it's only when you scroll down that others will start to be queried too. So folders and putting the items you use most near the top are one way to speed this up. But no, you can't prevent the scan actually happening since this is most of the value of the bookmarks view. I'm surprised you're finding it slow - I have about 50 bookmarks here, and I keep most of my folders expanded so the window is always full of bookmarks when I start up, and it's actually very quick. SourceTree 1.3 is faster (it's in beta right now, you can check it out ahead of the official release here: http://www.sourcetreeapp.com/2011/12/29/sourcetree-1-3-beta-3-released/), you might want to try that out. It will become the stable version very soon.
