Pre-2.x sourcetree would popup a notification about updates periodically. I no longer see those, but I'm only on version 2.0.20.1. I don't see a check for updates option in any menus either. How do I update sourcetree 2.x on Windows?
That menu shows my version as being up to date, but the only source tree versions/release notes site I could find said 2.3 is the current version: https://www.sourcetreeapp.com/update/ReleaseNotes.html

The version 2.0.20.1 is the last version. If you try to download through the site https://www.sourcetreeapp.com/ the version is 2.0.20.1. You must wait for the new version up to be available.

I don't see any option to update from inside the app on windows. Nothing under Tools > Options that still looks related to "Updates" from what I can see.
I did notice the current downloadable version from the sourcetree website is unlabeled until you start to download, but in my case it was a newer version than my sourcetree client. I just manually downloaded 3.0.17 but have 3.0.8 running.
Little confusing whatever the process is meant to be.
