Global change and the impact on ACE RTM: stay safe! stay healthy! Keep eventing!

Dear ACE Rotterdam members,

Corona virus has well and truly taken a strangle hold on the world and we are all now massively affected; no least the Community Events.

Herewith a special message from our Community Management team:

Dear Community,

A strong community is propped up by a handful of key components: shared values, a desire to learn, clear guardrails for participation and, perhaps most importantly, an environment where members feel welcome to share their questions and ideas. As Atlassian Community members, you exemplify this vibrant spirit through your participation online and at in-person events.

That said, we find ourselves in somewhat uncertain times with the onset of COVID-19, which makes gathering in real life more challenging. In the interim, virtual events can be a productive solution, keeping the health of all members at the forefront.

The Atlassian Community team is working closely with us, your local Community Leaders, to crowd-source best practices and tools to help execute these virtual events as seamlessly as possible, and we appreciate your support and understanding. You’ll be hearing much more in the coming weeks, so stay tuned, and review these general tips:

  • Stay informed. Listen to the advice of public health experts from reputable sources like the World Health Organization. Wash your hands frequently, and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
Specific for the Netherlands do keep tabs on the RIVM website (Dutch | English)
  • Check your email for events updates**. As the situation is constantly evolving, keep an eye out for communications from Leaders about any changes or cancellations.
  • Offer up ideas**. We’re all learning together when it comes to what virtual events might look like, so if you have topics or techniques that have worked for you, please feel free to reach out to us:
⏩  The best manner is directly with your Atlassian Community Leader through the Chapter Page:

If you have any questions or feedback, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Now, more than ever, we are grateful for a community that always rallies to support its members, day in and day out.

Thank you for your patience and overall support.

Sincerely yours,

The Community Management Team

As two final remarks:

1) Events updates - we have some seriously hard core members who just refuse to let this situation get them down; we already have 5 confirmed webinars in the pipeline with a 6 about to join the list! Keep an eye out for invites to the these events through the normal channel: - an event will already happen this week! 📅🤓

2) Members are coming thick and fast to me with amazing ideas for virtual experience - even one for a TWO DAY hackathon; say what!? - so, if you've got a great idea to help boost events during this bizarre period of isolation = let me know! 💡🌟

Do please all make sure that you remain healthy and strong during this crisis. At some point we'll pull through (human beings always do!) and I cannot wait to be able to hold epic ACEs with you all once again in the beautiful city of Rotterdam. 💙🏙

All the best, warmest regards,
Fun Man Andy
