As always all good things must come to an end.. Team'23 is over :(..
Everyone that attended in-person would probably bring home not only a bag full of swag but as always a lot of memories and thoughts... Soon also most of the sessions would be available on demand so it would be good time to summarize and basically share feedback about this year event, exchange information and share best photos...
I think it is a good time also to start a discussion what is your biggest takeaway from this year Team 23, what you liked, what could be improved and of course think about the future a little bit by answering a question - do you actually plan to get there next year?
Just for those that do not know yet - Team'24 would be again in Las Vegas on 30 April - 2 May (maybe in brand new magnificent Sphere, who knows?) so save the date and (hopefully) see you there! :)
Would be really nice to be there again next year :)
This year was pretty decent. I guess there was around 3000 attendees, is that correct? Many first-timers that I met and talked to and got feedback that they enjoyed everything. I also enjoyed it. Was in Vegas in 2019 at Mandalay Bay, so comparing both locations not sure which one I liked better. Maybe Bash was better in 2019 because it was outside which I personally prefer.
BTW - I was mentioning about Sphere. Did anyone notice that it actually changed colors? For most of the time it is black but when the conference started it was different!
I actually had a view of this from my hotel room, and at night it looked like the Death Star!
Nice! :) Target date for opening this venue is September 2023 so it is really close.. Final tests ;)
Fantastic to see so many customer and partners, highlight of my year as an Atlassian. Thaks fro coming out!
Ehh... I hated to hear the dates for next year... brings us right up against the busiest weekend of our year. Chances are I won't be able to attend... *sniff!!*
@Randy O'Neal oh no.. could you break this down for all our international friends who might not be familiar with this? 🌍🤔
Well... it turns out I WILL be able to attend Team'24 after all. Here's my quandary, which forced a conversation with our company president and my VP of development:
I work in the horse racing industry. Our parent company is Churchill Downs, the owner/operator/host of The Kentucky Derby. The Derby is held on the first Saturday in May, regardless of when that first Saturday falls... be it May 1st or May 7th. With Atlassian moving their conference to the last week (day) of April next year - April 30 - May 2 - it pushes the end of the conference to just 2 days before the Kentucky Derby. Factor in travel time, and I'll be returning to the Bluegrass just hours before the Derby next year.
Fortunately, my executive leadership sees the value in attending the Atlassian Team conferences... so much so that not only have I been instructed to plan to attend - along with my counterpart over in Louisville - but we've also been told to plan on taking one or more of our Product team along with us! This is a fantastic development, one - quite frankly - I did not anticipate.
I still would have preferred Team'24 be held the week prior, but schedules are schedules, and you have to do what you have to do... I'm just glad it's working out!
@Krimo Khermane does that give you the answer you wanted/needed?
Had a great week. Long time Atlassian customer since 2006, but only my second in-person event (Team 22 and Team 23). Also attended Pulse and Partner Info sessions prior to Team. Hope to attend next year as well.
One comment/feedback I shared - and I hope the "powers that be" give this some serious consideration: enhance the conference app - Atlassian Team '2x - so that both vendors and attendees are able to scan each others badges; turn this into a truly digital clearing house for contact information.
I realize our vendors have special scanning devices for capturing digital "business cards" for people who swing by their booths... but extending this so that we can all share/capture contact information for all people we encounter would dramatically improve networking, sharing, and overall collaboration, not to mention the ability of attendees to more readily follow up with vendors and/or booths which we found interesting.
To me, this is a critical success factor going forward. Hope the right people are listening!
+1 to your suggestion! I love that idea!
Yes, nice idea! In 2019 in the app it was possible to view everyone that was attending and as I remember contact them. That was a nice feature we could find everyone that we talked to and follow up later. Sadly this is no longer available so definitively something like that should be possible.
Is there a central location for the pictures taken during the conference? I know there were a TON of pictures take on the expo floor alone, let alone during/at all the various events.
Pretty sure Atlassian is tied up in a multi-year contract with the Venetian Resort... but the rumour mill about Sphere is rife.
So is Team returning to the bay area!
