Where does scaffolding store uploaded attachments?

When a scaffolding live template is built with a field to upload an attachment, where is that attachment stored?

As an attachment on the page, or somewhere else?

The attachments are stored on the page. Nothing is stored in the plugin.

You can check the attachment uploaded from an attachment data macro if you

- Select ... to open the more options menu, then select Attachments.

I see. - Is there the possibility to store the attachments outside the confluence instance, if desired? (For example, integration with dropbox, google drive, sharepoint, etc?)
