Using the Branch rule for the current issue

Viktor Nademlýnský April 7, 2017

Hi, I am trying to use the branch rule in a way, when after the basic condition is passed, /branch 1/ is added which sends email to contact A for component A /end of branch 1/, rule continues with /branch 2/ which sends email to contact B for component B /end of branch 2/.

Type of related issue is Current issue. But the rule returns error: "Error searching for related issues. This is most likely because the following issues don't have a related issue of the type you specified. Try narrowing your search to only include issues that contain links to related issues"

Which reads like it couldn't find the current issue. What am I missing?

Hi Viktor,

Can you post a screenshot of your rule?

We recently added 'Current issue' as an option to the related issues action (you may need to upgrade to the latest version of Automation for JIRA if you're in server). To support your specific case better.

If you are using the related issues action with the 'JQL' option, make sure you don't have the "Only include issues that have changed since the last time this rule executed" option checked perhaps.  This could exclude issues if they haven't changed since the last time the rule executed.

Finally - please make sure that the rule actor (see 'Rule details') has the browse permission for your issues.  This could not be the case if the issues have an issue security level set for example.

Cheers,
 Andreas
