Using Quick Filters in Big Picture Jira gadget in Confluence is not working (HTTP 403)

Stefan Stadler April 24, 2024

Hi all,

we are using Jira and Confluence and also BigPicture for project management.

We experienced quite a strange behaviour when working with BigPicture inside of Confluence (after adding the BigPicture Gantt gadget):

Displaying the BigPicture Gantt chart is working fine on the page. However, as soon as a Quick Filter is selected, nothing changes. Doing the same on a Jira dashboard works flawlessly.

I had a look in the browser development tool console and found some error messages. Also the HTTP request to Jira is failing with HTTP 403 and the following message:

<body>
<h1>HTTP Status 403 – Forbidden</h1>
<hr class="line"/>
<p>
<b>Type</b>
Status Report
</p>
<p>
<b>Message</b>
XSRF check failed
</p>
<p>
<b>Beschreibung</b>
Der Server hat die Anfrage verstanden, verbietet aber eine Autorisierung.
(The server understood the request, but does not allow an authorization)
</p>
<hr class="line"/>
<h3>Apache Tomcat/9.0.65</h3>
</body>

I have no idea where this comes from as the app link between both is established.

Did someone experience a similar behaviour and found the root cause?
