Use existing issue type in Xray

I have an existing Jira project that is using the issue type Bug. The project have several issues of that type and in different status, from ToDo to Resolved.

Now we want to start using "Xray Test Management for Jira". Of cource we want to connect the issue type Bug to the Xray as a Defect issue type. Will this affect my existing issues in some way?
