Syntax for making assignments to Assignee with "Update Any Issue Field (JSU)"

I'm trying to get JSU to assign an issue to a specific user for "X" precondition.

I'm reasonably sure I have the precondition statement working, but the "Update Any Issue Field(JSU) blows up on me.

I get the message: "We can't create this issue for you right now, it could be due to unsupported content you've entered into one or more of the issue fields. If this situation persists, contact your administrator as they'll be able to access more specific information in the log file."

I've configured it the following:

Update Any Issue Field (JSU)
Precondition must be: True
Issue Field: Assignee
Field Value: joe.smith

What is the format for "Field Value" for "Assignee"?  I've tried several ways but I can't seem to get the syntax correct and I haven't found any examples.  Should I be putting "joe.smith" in quotes, or brackets, or using his full email address or what?

Thank you,

Hello!

The correct solution would be to specify the user as JIRAUSERXXX

Hi. Is there any way to figure out the JIRAUSERXXX? I have only email haven't found how to obtain JIRAUSERXXX from the email

is there any answer for this. I am also trying to find an answer for the same. I have a custom field which returns a user account id. I want to set this value in the "Field value" for Assignee. But i am not getting the proper syntax. I am not in JIRA cloud
