How to Set a Jira Workflow Automation Based on Template Tags?
This use case will show you how the Business Process Manager can easily solve our users' requests about Jira workflow automation. And now, let’s take piece by piece the example of a real user on how to combine Business Process Manager with automation in Jira effectively.
The case is the following:
The user creates a process template and adds a step = Jira issue in BPM with a form. Then the new process is triggered by the Template tag. So when the form is submitted, another process is started. How to achieve this?

Business Process Manager (Atlassian BPM) has a feature that can help in this case - the Destination field. It can update the issue field by the data that the person has entered into the specific form field.
Then based on it, you can set the Automation. The instruction is the following:
- Add some field that will control whether the Related process should start or not and synchronize the answer with some issue field.
- Once it starts, the user can select yes or no.
- If the ‘yes’ option has been selected and the form submitted, ‘bpmTemplatesTags' will get the 'yes’ value.
- The Automation rule should cover this 'yes' value update.
and in Action, you have to add the URL from the Related Process you would like to start as a trigger. - Once all those actions are performed, the Related Process will always start when someone selects 'Yes' in Form.
Now the process starts according to the trigger based on the label.
