Best Add-On for reporting on 'Time tracking' Jira Field?

My use case:
I provide customers a bucket of hours of technical support, and I put that bucket quantity in 'Original Estimate'. I then track my time in 'Time Tracking' or 'Work Log' tab and add basic comments and time.

Currently I export all tickets and use Excel to build reports, but it's all time locked.

What add-on would provide me:

  • In Jira/Confluence reporting/filtering
  • Ability to see time logged-over-duration (E.g. I want to see the 9 hours in June, and 10 hours in August split out)
  • (Optional) Able to see who logged the time, if multiple people logged to a single ticket
  • (Optional) Able to see how much time is left of the `estimate - logged`
  • (Optional) Ability to split it by start dates - These 'buckets' last one year but all start on a different date. This is minor but nice to have.

Hi @Donavin Northrup I, for one, love Timesheet Builder.

It seems to solve most of your problems.

You can add worklog attributes like billable or non billable and filter for projects, assignees, export the tables to Excel and more.

You are also able to see who locked which time - if you want to have this! You can also decide to block the ability to view logged work by other users or groups (for data privacy reasons).

Thanks @Patricia Modispacher _appanvil_ - This actually looks interesting, and seems to be lower cost which is fitting for this project. It doesn't seem to have any reporting built in, so do you use the partner add-on for reporting, or do you still take it out to Excel?

Thanks for your reply, @Donavin Northrup.

You can take it out to Excel or use another add-on from the same partner. The other app is made for reporting and is called Report Builder. If you request a demo, I'm sure they'll offer you some discount for the app bundle.

There's also a sandbox for you to test the solution(s).

Hi @Donavin Northrup -

I would also recommend one more add-on called "Activity Timeline: Resource Capacity Planning, Time Tracking"

Hi @Donavin Northrup

You can consider the Worklogs - Time Tracking and Reports app that allows you to display work logs for multiple users and projects with a great possibility to filter the report including JQL, custom fields, sprint filters etc.

Besides that you can easily save your report, export it to the Excel file, share it with your teammates etc.

I encourage you to try our app because you don't pay anything for the first 30 days anyway. You can even try our interactive demo by going to this link

Hello, @Donavin Northrup

I'd like to suggest Cost Tracker for Jira Cloud app from my team. It combines time & cost tracking + permissions management.

In case employees' rates are based on logged hours, you can track and calculate costs for issues, projects, sprints, versions, etc.

Regarding time reports, there are three options:

  • The scope tab shows the list of issues with any work log in the selected period
  • The team tab shows the work log amount against every user.
  • The total tab summarizes the Work log for the period.

As an advantage, there is also a possibility to filter the logged time that you want to include in your report by project, issue, or with any other custom Jira filter. Plus, you can include custom Jira fields in your time report. time tracking for jira users.png

There is a 30-day free trial, so you can check if fits your needs.

Hi @Donavin Northrup,

the absolutely BEST reporting add-on of course is our amazing EXPLY 😁

It covers all your reporting needs and more. You can export Dashboards/reports to Excel or just share them with your customers right out of Jira.

Hi @Donavin Northrup

I'd also like to recommend our app, Timetracker to your attention (I'm a member of the team behind it). It provides different ways to create and edit worklogs, adds custom fields for tags and billings, and lets you edit permissions to limit who can see other users' worklogs.  Clipboard01.jpgIt also has built-in reporting features built inside the app. You can filter and group by users, from epics to subtask levels and many more. Feel free to book a demo on the Marketplace page if you are interested.

Hi @Donavin Northrup

As an alternative you can try out our add-on. And track time spent by resources with multiple filters / category / grouping features.

Hi,

Nearly all of the timesheet add-ons on the market can perform these. You can check timesheet apps on the marketplace and choose one that matches your budget. As a vendor, I also want to recommend our own app, WorklogPRO - Timesheet for Jira. You can analyze functionality of it in our wiki. WorklogPRO can also provide additional functionality for your scenario. For example, blocking logging work, if you are logging more than "original estimate". Of course, this is configurable.
