Hi folks,

I have been working as Atlassian consultant for many years in Canada. Just want to start this discussion about career path for us, Atlassian consultants, Jira administrators, Jira system analyst, and whatever job title you have.

What's your idea? How to grow in the career path? All comments are welcome. Thank you.

I am thinking about looking for another platform, as Jira is going in wrong way, at least here, in Europe. Cloud is unreliable and changing UI without customer permission. So big players wont accept that. DC still having feature requests and bugs like 15 years old. There are tons of unwanted features, instead of fixing bugs and delivering actual features requested by customers.

Currently seeing a lot of guys looking for system to migrate to. Maybe its time to consider be "migration specialist". Jira was great product, with passionate community. Was.

Hi @Tomáš Vrabec _neresit_cz_

its a bad news.

If possible, can you provide or comment to which platform or application the customers are moving, as I am also into JIRA since 13 years, from Europe region.

It will help me(us) to learn the new platform encouraged in Europe.

I am also curious about these other possible platforms. I think Jira is still a great product, but I must admit that I’ve experienced some of the issues you mentioned in your post.

I agree with you that Atlassian didn't hear what we ask as it should do. On the other hand, I like to work with Cloud although there are changes occasionally and some missing features. It brings better user experience comparing to DC version. I guess the reason why Atlassian promotes Cloud is they don't want to put extra effort to optimize server/DC. (Of course, revenue is the main concern as we all know.)

I notice there are other platforms but I haven't found one can replace Atlassian ecosystem completely yet. In my mind, I think Atlassian products will still be there for a quite long time. Hopefully they could evolve faster and provide what we expect.

Happy 2025 and good luck!
