Logging Time - Rolling up to the Epic

Hello,

When my team logs time at the subtask level that information is rolled up to the story. How come the totals at the story level are not rolled up to the parent epic? The estimated and remaining values from the child stories exist on the epic and appear to update but not the logged time.

What is the reasoning behind this? Is this something on the roadmap to change?

Out of box JIRA cannot provide you this information.

However as a workaround try this.

  • use search to search for the issues underneath the epic.

epiclink=<name of epic>

  • add Sigma time logged and sigma remaining time to the columns
  • Extract theinformation into an excel
  • Use excel features to sumup the total of time logged  and remaining estimate.

This seems like a fairly shocking omission, very much a basic project management tool. Do you have an ETA to resolve this issue? Thanks.
