we are trying to figure out the visibility and restriction for different users on the service desk. So, let us say if I need to create separate portal for them, will it be possible under same project.
If not, do we have capability to display the data for different users in separate way?
or we need to create multiple projects only.
The current mapping between JIRA Service Desk and JIRA projects is 1 on 1.
So you'll need to create multiple projects in JIRA.
Do keep in mind that anybody who is using the customer portal will only see the issues he/she has created through the portal, no other issues will be visible.
