If I need to install Jira and Confluence in Kubernetes,
should I have to install them in different namespaces, or I can do it in single namespace

and what is best practice or mandatory for this

and if I install in one namespace, any consequences or issues?

Hello @Nikola Perisic

thanks but my questions is not how to install on kubernetes.

I am asking must i install Jira and Confluence in separate namespaces like attlassian-jira and attlassian-confluence or I can install both of them in a single namespace called attlassian for example ?

Hello @Ahmed Attya

Since namespaces are for segregating resources in the same cluster, are you saying you intend to install Jira DC and Confluence DC in the same cluster?

Hello @David Bakkers

No same cluster but different namespaces, but for some constrains I have to install them on same namespace, so is it applicable or it will create issues in the future ?

Sorry, but can I just double-check what you are saying.

So, irrespective of whether they are in the same namespace or different namespaces, you intend to run Jira DC in one node in a cluster and Confluence DC in another node in the same cluster?

Is that correct?

yes different nodes but this is not the problem,  the problem in different namespaces in the same cluster.
as you know Jira and Confluence needs shared-home between them. but for our constrains in our environment we cannot do this if we install jira in namespace-1 and confluence in namespace-2 because pvc is namespaced scope and cannot use same pvc in different namespaces in cluster. and we cannot use NFS for example

so can i install both of them in a single namespace in same cluster ?

Sorry, I can be of no further assistance, as I've never heard of anyone actually doing what you say you are intending to do.

Good luck on your quest.

thanks, but you mean that it is recommended to be on different namespaces on cluster?

as you know Jira and Confluence needs shared-home between them

That is not true.

Deploying each datacenter product to a different namespace is a common practice but not a requirement, so it's up to you.
