Actually, my question refers to a demo Jira project. I try to create a demo project to present and explain project tracking with Jira, e.g. using the Release Burnup report.
So I created a Scrum project with a number of epics and stories, and added estimates to them. I created versions to simulate a roadmap. I also created a virtual time line starting some time back in January. I created Sprints and added stories to them. I started and completed those Sprints...
Unfortunately, this doesn't work, because Jira replaces Sprint start and end dates simply by the date of the button click. This breaks all attempts to create reasonable charts with the reports.
Is there a way to generate demo data with reasonable time stamps other than running this demo project for weeks or months to click the buttons at the right point in time?
Check this video out... directly in Jira Software with no plugin required, you create a board with demo data, which by default creates a new project with demo data.
Another possible wayis to use the following plugin https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1210725/data-generator-for-jira? hosting=server&tab=overview but my suggestion is to try to use it just in a dev envrionment.

Hi @Henning Möller ,
I had the same problem in the past. You can create a project scrum with example data https://confluence.atlassian.com/servicemanagementserver/explore-a-sample-project-939926223.html
The other way is to change data on DB and restart JIRA but I highly recomend to not use this approach.
Hope this helps,
Fabio
