When I want to add the Jira issues agenda gadget to a dashboard, I cannot select any project or filter. The field stays empty.
Welcome to the Community!
I can't find the gadget you're talking about. Would you be able to provide the XML link? Just click on 'show XML link'. You can take out the first bit so that you don't give away your Atlassian instance.
Thanks, Liam

Hi Jean Paul
I had to start typing the name of the project to get it to come up, does that work for you?

No, it doesn't. Strangely enough on another Jira site this works as you'd expect. But couldn't see any differences in settings.

The only thing I can think to check is whether you have 'Browse Project' permissions?

I actually have, but I seem to have a browser issue. I was using Chrome and switched to Safari. In Safari I couldn't see any project as well, but I typed the project name and it didn't appear but after a few enters, it was selected anyway. And now this gadget is working like it should.

Well I'm glad you've solved one problem at least...hopefully you get to the bottom of the browser issue!
