@Dietra Winkfield

We have an automation rule that can be useful for this question here: Automation Playground | Atlassian

In Automation Playground you can found some other automation rules most used for all. Of course you can build your own rule following your knowledge in Jira or adopting another initiative. The automation playground it's for give you a quick start to open your possibilities regarding the automation resource.

If this automation example didn't work for you, just back here and tell us what is your exactly idea and we can help you to achieve him.

Thank you for this suggestion. I think this will help, but I am not sure what to put for the JQL field if I want the trigger for sending the email to be the start date, not the due date.

@Dietra Winkfield

To use Start date instead due date try this JQL replace due date for this: "Start date[Date]".

Also you can discover your JQL field, just click to create a new filter, select the start date field then click to switch to JQL to find the current jql for your query.
