Hi I want to use a drop down list depending on the options selected in above drop down list.
for example i have two departments in my team AVL-Bio and AVL-Pharma. if i select AVL Pharma. in the cutomer name feild only AVL pharma customers should be there and vice versa for AVL packaging.
going ahead when i select customer name. i should get only equpment numbers that are installed at this customer place.
is it possible to impliment?
Have you tried a cascading-select custom field? That will do exactly that.
Right, as you've changed the goalposts over at your duplicate question at https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/305204/herarchical-fields I'll answer that here.
The cascading selecr built into Jira is only two levels.
If you want more, you need to find or write a plugin to provide such a field. There's at least one in the marketplace that will do multi-level cascading selects, and the one I've used works quite well from what I remember of it.

...It's true that there are projects in Jira; but they are merely a way to cut off issues, to tell them apart from other sections of work and to apply rules that are specific to that team (the schemes)....
