can i mandate the field assignee while creating the issue , i've many unassigned issues in my prjct?

one of the project manager requested me that , the assignee must be mandate to filled while creating the ticket. and i tried to mandate the field, i'm not able to perform the operation , why because of there are many issues are at unassigned all over the jira. can you please help me on this ?

Hi AB,

You can make field "Assignee" as required in your field configuration, but you must add this filed to your screen before. Then when user submit case, they must fill the assignee field. If not, they will get an error message.

For these existed unassigned case, you may try bulk update to set assginee field.
