Hi,
I'm an admin for Jira Data Center at my company (version 8.20.6). We had a user report that they only see a few of their epics in their epic pane in the backlog; the epics that don't appear are not searchable in this view.
We checked the board filter and the missing epics were appearing in the issue search, but not in the backlog's epic pane. What causes this and how can we resolve it? Is there a limit to how many epics you can see in this view?
Hello @Krista Nicol
Epics will not be displayed in the Epics pane if the "Epic Status" field is set to Done. The "Epic Status" field is separate for the "Status" field that is used by the issue workflows. The "Epic Status" is set to Done by clicking the pull down arrow next to the Epic in the Epic pane and selecting Mark As Done. It might also be sent automatically if the workflow has been updated with a post function to set the field.
In your search, add the Epic Status field to the columns of a List view of the search results to see if that field has been set to Done.
The field is not included in the screens by default. If you need to update it back to "To Do" you can can add it to the screens for your Epic issues, or you can manage the updating of it by using Post Functions on workflows transitions to update it automatically.
