While creating a defect in JIRA it shows me a mandatory field to be filled called "Task template". it is a drop down field with no values in it whatsoever.
If I try to configure the defect to not include task template it still doesn't allow me to create a defect.
First, look that the Field Configuration for that project and issue type to see if the Task Template field is marked as Required.
Second, look at the workflow for the Defect issue type for that project. Check the transition for Create to see if there is a Validator or Condition that makes it Required.
