Populate Description from Outside Issue

I am using Jira automation to stub out "standard" Epics when a new Initiative is created. This is my second of two questions:

2. I have a "template" for each of the standard Epics. Is there a way I can dynamically pull their description, instead of inserting the text into the automation? My goal is to revise the template issue instead of the automation(s) as the templates change.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Steve Tedeschi

Can I confirm...

  • You have a set of Epic "templates" - which are actual issues created somewhere?
  • You'd like the Automation Rule which creates the Epics under each Initiative to pull data from these "templates", rather than building the text into the rule?

...is this correct?

---

How are the Epics triggered to be created? Is this from the Initiative creation?

A copy of your current rule would be very beneficial here :)
