I have pre-defined template with four status like Not Ready,To Do, WIP and Done. I need to use this template in SDLC project.Suggest best practice to use template and follow SDLC process.

Status implies you need a workflow.  Create the workflow you need from those four status, put it into a workflow scheme, apply it to your projects.
