Is it possible to hide groups from recipients' field from Filter Notification subscription

Hello Team,

when users login they are allowed to subscribe the filters subscriptions and share with groups. but we wanted to restrict the users from sharing the filter subscriptions with group.

Do we have any approach to hide the groups from recipients field or any other way to achieve it?

Hi @Pratibha Tambakad

To make sure the user cannot create a subscription with a group you can remove the Manage Group Filter Subscriptions from the global permission in JIRA. Only allow jira admin to do that for instance.

Thanks for quick answer @Florian Bonniec

But requirement is bit different here, we are allowing the user to create subscription but we don't want them to share with other groups, It should be only Personal Subscription.

I think you can do personal subscription without this global permission, it only apply to group.

Yes, it is possible to hide groups from the recipients' field in a Filter Notification subscription. This can be achieved by creating a distribution list that includes all the users who should receive the notifications, but excluding the groups that should be hidden.

To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Create a new distribution list in your email system.
  2. Add all the individual users who should receive the notifications to the distribution list.
  3. Exclude any groups that should be hidden from the distribution list.
  4. Use the distribution list as the recipient in your Filter Notification subscription.

By using the distribution list as the recipient, the groups that have been excluded from the distribution list will not receive the notifications. Only the individual users who have been added to the distribution list will receive the notifications.
