How to stop log work for a state - On demand

Question

I am trying to stop work being logged against a story.

I have tried adding a property key jira.permission.work.denied with value denied against the state but this doesn't seem to be anything.

What am I doing wrong ?. Everything I have read suggests that this should work.

We are using the on demand version.

based on documentation https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/use-workflow-properties/ it should work. Are u sure that story issue type is using that specific workflow?
