Hi @Sullivan_ Patty ,

Welcome to the Atlassian Community.

Notifications are configured in the notification scheme that is linked to the jira-project.
In a notification scheme you can add Current Assignee to the action Create issue.

See this documentation.

Regards, Marco Brundel

We usually include the assignee as part of creation.  But I don't have access to add "current assignee" to the notification schema.  I'll have to reach out to my project administrators.  Thank you for your help!

Hello @Sullivan_ Patty !  Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

I'd agree with @Marco Brundel , but are you using project defaults to set your Assignee such as Project Lead or Component Lead or are you populating the Assignee field using Automation?  Otherwise, the Assignee is not set on creation.

Thank you,  @Robert Wen_ReleaseTEAM_ .  It looks like I need my administrator to add the "current assignee" field to the notification schema.

Thanks for your help!
