How to have duration field in Advanced roapmap in Jira

Hi Team,

I have two fields in road map plan one was planned Start and Planned End.

I want to have planned start and End dates to have dates based on duration field value.

Ex: when i enter duration field = 2w then planned start date = 9/28/2023 and planned end date = 10/12/2023.

This how I want to have in roadmap plan

Any advise please let me know.

Thanks,

Kedar P

Hi @kedar

Just to confirm...

  • You have a custom number field - Duration
  • When entering duration (in weeks) into the field, you want it to set the Start/End date based on now (start date) and N weeks time (end date)

...is this correct?

Whilst not directly possible in Advanced Roadmaps - you could use Automation for this. Do you have Automation within your instance?

Ste

Yes Stephen

We do have Automation but the value in duration is not standard it can be days or weeks when we enter days or weeks.athe planned start and planned End should take those details like planned start should have starting date and planned End should have ending date.

Thanks,

Kedar P

Hi @kedar

It's going to be complicated if the field could be "anything" in terms of duration.

I think you'd be better to...

  • Have a duration field for a set type of duration - days, weeks, etc - which can be consistent
  • Use that to set the dates using Automation

^ That would be an alternative method to what you've originally requested.

Ste

Thanks for the update Stephen

How to have this any ideas
