How to control the jira admin custom field search timeout

Question

When you are an admin, and you go to the Custom Fields screen, there is a box for typing in the custom field name.

But the dang box STOPS letting me type before I'm done, and goes merrily about it's business searching. When the box is no longer grayed out I can continue typing.

Is there a way to disable this annoying feature? Or at least change the timeout so that I can finish typing before it goes running off to search?

Hi @Ken Wood,

I'm afraid this is something that will need a source code change. Alternatively, these are the workarounds:

* Type what you want to search on a text editor or somewhere else. Copy and paste the string on the search box.
* Build a client-side script to trick the browser and give some delay before the browser goes to fetch the data.
