I recently just upgrade our Jira server software to Jira Software 8.15. I notice today that I am unable to create a branch from an issue.
Upon further investigation I see that I have JIra Core installed and when I attempt to perform the Jira Software Upgrade from the admin page it fails.
I checked the logs but all I get from the log is:
[GC (Allocation Failure) [PSYoungGen:....
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks...
Hi Joe,
What type of database are you using? You may need to check the logs inside the database itself, or try updating through SSH.
Is this a production environment or a staging environment?

Hey Clark,
This is our production environment. We are using Postgres 9.6.18. I haven't checked the logs here yet as I would have not suspected it to be a DB issue.

ok, upon further review of the postgres logs, it looks like I am receiving an
EST FATAL: unsupported frontend protocol 1243.5680: server supports 1.0 to 3.0
error.
I haven't come across this before and would assume this is not normal behavior.

I don't think the postgres error is connected to this jira issue. We also upgraded our confluence server at the same time. I stopped confluence and the postgres errors stopped as well.
