Add watchers automatically for connected issues

Catalin I'm New Here Apr 29, 2021

Hi,

In our company we use Jira for DevOps. The mapping and connections are:

Epic -> Features -> Stories.

I would need that when a Story connected to a Feature is created and assigned, the person who is Assignee to become a watcher automatically on the parent Feature. Is that possible?

Hi Catalin - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Are you using Jira Server or Jira Cloud?

In Jira Cloud there is no way to do the hierarchy as you describe. Features and Stories would be at the same level. You could add Initiatives above Epics but that's the best you could do.

So: Initiatives > Epics > Stories > Sub-tasks

And all of that is only available with Jira Cloud Premium.
