Migration from server to cloud

Retail Italia Amministratore March 22, 2021

We already have Jira Software running on cloud, we want to move Jira Servise Desk also.

How to be sure Jira Software projects will not be deleted by Service Desk import?

Both application are running on the same cloud site.

Following Atlassian Documentation for Migration we always get the alert message "Importing your data file will overwrite all data (except for users and groups) in your Jira Cloud site".

Reading this we assume that Jira Software will be overwritten too. WE WANT TO IMPORT ONLY THE JIRA SERVICE MANAGEMENT projects.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

You've chosen a full import of everything from a (Server?) xml export file.  This will overwrite everything in your Cloud system, as that is what it is for - restoring a backup or cloning another system (for test or migration)

You should instead be importing just projects, which is not part of the "restore from backup" functionality.

Technically, I should point you at https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/how-to-import-a-project-from-a-jira-server-application-to-a-jira-cloud-application-779160760.html where it starts talking about the migration assistant.  But the assistant can not yet handle Jira Service Management projects so your next step is https://support.atlassian.com/migration/docs/compare-cloud-migration-methods/
