Creating task from request for Jira

Hi,

i was setting up my first Jira Service Management Project and we're using Jira Service Management Cloud and Jira Server.
Is it possible to create a task in Jira from the request out of the Service Desk (as an own task according to the Service Desk ticket)? Or do i have to create the task separatly in Jira and link it afterwards from the Service Desk to the created Jira Issue?

Yes, it is possible via custom WF post-function call.  In our On-Prems DC env for both JSM and Jira Software, we uses this add-on (a functions riched add-on for Jira env) to auto create issue (task in Jira project) when a JSM ticket is created at JSM ticket creation time.  In the same post-function call we also create the issue links.

However, I believe you have an issue where your JSM is in CLOUD env and your Jira is in a different env (Server).  I would recommend that you reach out to Atlassian Support directly to see how to integrate between CLOUD/SERVER envs (Using application link between those apps?).  NOTE - Jira Server env will be reaching end of life at 2024 based on Atlassian's announcement.  You will need to move to Jira Data Center model soon or migrate to CLOUD.
