I just sat down with one of our PMs to look at the different ways we can capture feedback from stakeholders (contributors). She really liked the "Reactions" field type, but she would prefer to be able to limit the type of reactions they can give, so that it will be easier to understand and classify the reactions. For example, allow using only thumbs up or thumbs down. We didn't find anyway to do this.

Hey Omer,

It's not possible, the reaction field is really "free" and you can't limit it - I'm noting the suggestion in our JPD project tho ;)

I have two workarounds for you, the first if you have a few specific stakeholders from who you need a clear opinion, second if you have a large audience and the "who" isn't too important:

1. (Multi)-Select of emojis

You can create one field per stakeholder, and add 3 or 4 emojis they can pick from, and then ask them to fill their column. After that you can even add weight on these emojis and use them in formulas, but I would say this would work well only if you're looking for the opinion of your VP, the CRO and the CEO for example.

2. Vote field

You create anew vote field called Q1 prioritization, and you allocate 10 votes to all participants, then you ask them to allocate their 10 votes across all their ideas (You can place 7 on one idea, and 3 on another).

At the end you'll have the one with the highest number of vote is the one with more thumbs up and the one with the lowest amount of votes is the one with the more "thumbs down". And then under each idea, in the Insights tab, you'll be able to see each voter and why they voted that way

Thanks Hermance!

We looked at the Vote field and it can do for specific periods of times, when we want to get votes for the current candidates or something similar. But it won't do for allowing stakeholders to look at the idea backlog from time to time and vote/react on the ideas they liked or disliked.

Your first suggestion is very nice, but as you said, it can only work for very special and specific stakeholders, and not for getting feedback from stakeholders in general.

Thanks for noting the idea of allowing to limit the reactions. Would love to see it some day.

Thanks again,

Omer
