It looks like filters in Discovery are all logical AND filters. This makes it impossible to build more complex queries -- for example, to find all discovery items which are incomplete because they're missing (say) a goal OR an effort rating OR a description.
I also can't seem to find a way to do NOTs -- for example, I may want to see all items which are NOT archived, or which are NOT "done". You can get around this by laboriously choosing all the other options, but this is inflexible and slow.
To be honest, it would be great if we could just pop a JQL query in for the filters -- and perhaps have a hidden magical "PROJECT = XX AND ( ... )" tacked on. ;)
Hi Barry,
Indeed, filters in Jira Product Discovery aren't as complex as regular JQL ones.
To do what you're looking for you would need to go on the advanced search of Jira, where you could write this JQL. I think for your use case (Project = XXX AND (Description is Empty OR Goal is empty OR Effort is empty), you can use the advanced search if you are looking for a "one-off"/"project tidyness" task.
However, we are aware this is not a sustainable solution for when you want to have a permanent Jira Product Discovery view, and we will be exploring better filtering options (such as JQL) later on this year :)
Last thing regarding the issues that are NOT archived - it is simply all the issues that appear on a list view with no filters.
Cheers,
Hermance
Thanks Hermance -- I look forward to more robust and capable filtering in JPD later this year! :)

@Hermance NDounga , I'm also looking for the logical OR & Checkbox is not empty filtering options. I was able to do this via JQL advanced search. Is there any way if we give the JQL, can it be set up by atlassian team at the backend for our account?

@Hermance NDounga was better filtering options ever explored last year? When can we expect to be able to have OR filtering conditions or JQL options available in Jira Product Discovery? Thanks.

We have wanted this too for our organization. Our use case is to display all statuses, but only display Candidates if they have a specific label—the workaround is to label *everything*... this would be easy if we could use JQL as a filter on JPD views.

A useful feature. Would be beneficial for us as well

I'd also like this feature. I tried to filter by ideas which didn't have a label and I couldn't.
