Fetching custom field from a Jira Discovery to another

Giorgos Antonopoulos October 19, 2024

Hello!

Is it possible to relate two ideas from a Jira Discovery project to another and fetch fields with their respective values to be shown on the first project?

e.g.

Project B -> idea B1

Project A -> idea A1

Relate idea B1 to idea A1 and on the Project A, custom fields from Idea B1 are shown

I would appreciate any help!

Hi @Giorgos Antonopoulos

What problem are you trying to solve?  That is, "why do this?"  Knowing that may help the community to offer better suggestions.

Until we know that...

  • All issues, including JPD Ideas, may use Issue Links to relate to one another
  • Additionally, Ideas have a special type of linking for connecting to the issues in Jira Software or Jira Work Management projects which will implement them, as "Delivery Tickets".
  • There is no hierarchy / relationships between JPD Ideas at this time
  • If one wanted to view Idea fields spanning multiple JPD projects, you could use a JQL filter to list them
    • But there is no way to display the fields in one JPD project's Ideas within the Ideas of another JPD project
    • As a cumbersome / brittle workaround, the data could be copied using automation rules into custom fields to show the duplicated data within on of the JPD projects

Kind regards,
Bill
