Is there a way to create an idea in JPD that is automated or triggered from a Jira ticket?
We often get production support or requests that currently start off as Jira tickets, but ideally we'd love to have those move to JPD. With Jira, we can automate transitions and create other tickets.
Has anyone tried to create a JPD from Jira yet and if so, did it work or have any issues to address?
Hi,
This is Majid @ Exalate.
I see that you have already been suggested some automation solutions, but this is very possible to do via an integration app such as Exalate too. You can even bring in Ideas from other Jira instances altogether. I linked a quick video demonstration here of how Exalate works between Jira and GitHub, but it should be good to give you an idea (no pun intended) about what the possibilities are.
Hope it helps.
Thanks
Majid
Hey @Bradley Davidson , yes i have from JSM (Company Managed).
We had a similar need for a client - i created a 'Submit new idea' request type in their JSM portal, then on create in the JSM project fired off an Automation to create a JPD Idea in the required JPD Project passing through details from the JSM Request Type. No real complexities except it had to be a global automation.

Have you tried using an automation rule to do this? I have not seen or read about any restrictions on creating JPD ideas from an automation rule in a different project.
As JPD is often used for portfolio and/or product management, you may want to discuss this with your JPD user community to ensure this addition of ideas does not alter their defined intake processes or alter any information on existing views.
Kind regards,
Bill

I have tried as we have a stakeholder board where ideas are bandied about and contextualized prior to submission. That board is a Company Managed Project. As JPD is based on Team Managed Projects there is no clean way I have discovered to do this.
