Hi Everyone,

we have purchased jira cloud for my company and we have got argetalep.atlassian.net and people who work on my company can reach https://argetalep.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/2 link to open tickets.

here is my question:  my company domain is gensenta.com.tr and we want to create a subdomain which is  argetalep.gensenta.com.tr.

when people click on argetalep.gensenta.com.tr , i want them can access to https://argetalep.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/2 .

is it possible? I have talked to my domain register firm , and they want me to provide them ip adress for https://argetalep.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/2

Thanks.

Hey @Onur Ocalan ,

forwarding to an ip address would indeed be a true subdomain but that wont work as this is a shared cloud instance and also those type of DNS records wont be able to forward to a full url.

A workaround that we've set up is to set up an intermediate webserver/proxy which does have a single ip and on that host we defined a VHOST which will then forward to the correct url.

so in short, an IP won't do you much good as it will link to the server on which many instances are hosted. A VHOST seems like the only solid solution to me. (but does require hosting something intermediate)

Not sure if your hosting/registrar can also provide you with that but you require a url to url redirect.
