can i change the sprints which are being considered for calculation of average team velocity

For some of the teams previous sprint numbers are not correct which is leading to incorrect calculation of team velocity. is it possible to remove that sprint from average velocity calculations.

Thanks. I tried it.

It updated the overide velocity but the average velocity in the program allocation report still remains the same.

Yes, the Program Allocation Report ONLY shows actual velocity and never shows Overridden Velocity.  I opened a defect on this exact issue earlier this year, but it was deemed "functions as designed".  Perhaps there is more to the story?  Maybe it will be addressed in the "Enhanced capacity management and insights" on the Align roadmap.

No, you cannot change the which 5 sprints are used to estimate the velocity for future Sprints.  You can, however, override the calculated velocity if the sprint has not yet started.  One way to do this is from the Story Backlog -> Kanban -> Sprint view.
