When Jira Align is connected to Jira Software, all synced data from Jira Align to Jira Software are made through the "integration account" which is not ideal for audit. Each time we need to know who has made the update we have to connect to Jira Align and check which user has done the update.
In my case, Jira Align is connected to Jira Software Cloud through API Token Authentication.
Q1 : Is there any way to have an audit trail about who has made the change in Jira without the need to go into Jira Align?
Q2 : If not possible, is there any way to disable the sync from Jira Align to Jira and keep only the sync from Jira to Jira Align?
Q1: I don't think you can change as the user is based on the connector setup - I have a Jira Align user in Jira and like you say go into Jira Align to see who made the change.
Q2: You can choose if a sync is bidirectional or one way for some fields
You can also set the settings of some fields.
Finally, because the sync does work for all fields / items I also setup a bespoke sync using Jira automation and API to update into Jira Align when certain items were updated in Jira.
Hope that helps.
