Jira Align Roadmap view not ordering by rank if using the grouping feature

In the Roadmap view when I use the View Configuration -> Group by = Parent the order of the roadmap is not reflective of the epic or sub-initiative rank.  How is the order determined in the roadmap when using the group by?

The Group-By disables any ordering in the Roadmap view.  The message does appear on the roadmap view when you hover over this button, which is disabled.

When you use the "group by" option in the roadmaps items are presented in alpha sort or in load date order.
