Jira Align - Program increments - different duration because of the holidays

Hello,

our next PI should last 3 months (because of the holidays) instead of the 2 months (as it usually lasts).

Is it possible? Could we have some issues because of this?

What should be adapted in JA because of this?

Thank you, best regards, Nena

@Nena Kruljac From a tooling perspective, it is easy to make this adjustment in Jira Align if you haven't built out future PIs and mapped sprints. In this case, it is just a matter of adjusting the end date of the PI on the PI Details Panel and creating the additional anchor dates. Someone with appropriate permission would have to do this.

Now if you've already created additional PIs and mapped sprints, then all of the mapping and team sprints that were created in Jira Align would need to be deleted. If there has been any worked linked to these sprints, then the sprints would no longer be assigned to those work items. If you have bi-directional sync set up for stories in the connector, then the sprint would also be removed from those items in Jira. Once the sprints are re-mapped again, they can be reassigned to those items.

If the PI is being shared among multiple programs/ARTs, all will be impacted by this change so very important to keep in mind. You would want to make sure everyone is aware and on the same page with the PI being extended and any related impacts as described above.

Thank you @Rae Gibbs .

There is only 1 program.

Next PI is created and anchor sprints.

But there are no created Jira sprints (sprints are created in Jira) for that time period (next PI).

So it seems we should only extend duration of the next PI and add additional anchor sprints.

Yes. If there are no other PIs with anchor sprints already created after your next one, then this is straight forward.
