Default Process Step - can one be setup in Align

Align has States where the 0 - Pending Approval is a default state that a work item will go to if a Jira status has not been mapped to any other state. Is there a way to do this with Process Flows? Do not see anything about being able to flag a Step in a Process Flow as a Default.

The purpose is basically a catch-all in the event a mistake is made and a Jira status is missed and not mapped to a Process Step, this way when a new Story created in Jira comes into Align it will have some step associated to it and consequently an Align State as well. If this is not possible what will Align do with that issue if it doesn't know what Step to put it to?

If an issue in Jira Software is in a status that is not mapped to a state in Jira Align, the Jira Align state will default to 0 - Pending Approval.  Unfortunately there is not a way to setup a default step other than what is stated above. This article has more details:
