On the Quarter Clean-Up report, Stories are appearing in the 'Stories With No Feature Epics Assigned' section when the Story has a Feature Epic. This is happening when the Feature Epic is in the Canceled state.
Is this by design please?
I did a quick test on the process for this and I figured out why those stories could became orphaned. When a feature is cancelled, there is a pop-up screen to have the user indicate which stories should be cancelled along with the feature. If the user doesn't choose to cancel the stories as well, they remain active and thus orphaned.
So if this is how the user is processing the cancellation of the feature, it's working as designed.
Thanks Kim, that's helpful to know. I do believe that there's a valid situation where the Stories are in an Accepted state (because that work was done before the Feature Epic was Canceled) and it happens to those too. Or does Jira Align work under the assumption that because the Feature Epic is cancelled all child issues should be too?

Jira Align doesn't assume that the stories under a feature should be cancelled along with the Feature. The user has the option to select the story(ies) to be cancelled along with the feature (the checkbox next to the story would be toggled on to select it for cancellation as well). The user would then need to realize that the stories not selected during that cancellation process would be orphaned.

Thanks Kim, for explaining that it's by design that non Canceled Stories are marked as Orphaned when the Feature Epic is canceled. I'll let the POs know.
