Right now in the HipChat client, if you post a URL to an image file, HipChat shows a preview of that image. Unfortunately, it downloads the entire image and re-sizes it in order to show the image. If a user posts a link to a huge image file in a chatroom, then every single person is forced to download that image who is in the chatroom, which could bring our corporate network to a halt if someone posted a link to a 10 GB Image.
Is there a configuration switch in HipChat (either server or client side) somewhere to either disable image preview in the clients, or to limit to a maximum size the images that will be downloaded? If this does not exist yet, is there a ticket created to get this added?
